Get Connected At Internet Marketing Seminars
A key element of building your business is building your list of contacts, and networking at Internet marketing conferences is an excellent method of building these vital connections.
Why you must network
Creating a network of people directly involved in your line of business and also those who may only be peripherally connected to your line of work is important for any going concern. Being able to touch base and access the wisdom of folks from a variety of viewpoints and walks of life can help you find opportunities that you may not otherwise be able to discern.
No matter how busy you are, you should always set aside some time and budget for networking. Networking will bring you more business opportunities and chances to make your business more efficient. It will also help you develop the people skills you need to land clients.
While your network should include folks of varying experiences and interests, it is important to put your primary focus on folks who are directly interested in things that you are. If you’re interested in exploring the opportunities Internet marketing can provide for your business, an Internet marketing conference is definitely the place to be.
How Internet marketing conferences help
Hitting an Internet marketing conference is a great way of reaching out to folks who are interested and engaged in the same field as you. By attending an Internet marketing conference, you’ll be able to pick the brains of some very successful folks who have been able to harness the power of the Internet and use it to the benefit of their businesses.
Internet marketing is a constantly changing and evolving field, and finding opportunities to get a fresh perspective on how you can use it is important to stay abreast of the competition. At Internet marketing conferences, you’ll get the opportunity to talk to other professionals in the Internet marketing field and find out what they’re doing and how it may apply to your business. By networking with people at these conferences, you may be able to form partnerships or share services with folks in related fields to the benefit of you both.
Remember, that the golden rule of networking is “scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours.” Make sure that you do favors and help the folks in your network and they’ll be sure to do the same. These actions build trust and gratitude, even if it’s just something as small as taking a business card and passing it on to a client or a friend who might need that particular service.
Networking at Internet marketing conferences is important to building the online side of your business, and it can also bring you other insights and opportunities as well, so don’t pass up these great chances to build up your business.

Networking at IM seminars is definitely a must for newbies. Considering the costs of joining internet marketing events and the number of groups organizing such events, how does one go about choosing which event to attend?
The best tip I can give is to research the speakers before making any commitment to go. Search for comments about them through forums, or if there is a particular internet marketer you are impressed with – go to their website and see if they are delivering good information.
If their blog or site is a sales-pitch, if they don’t deliver any value, then they probably have nothing worth sharing.
See how often they speak at such events. If it is a lot – then they probably don’t have time to actually do what they are talking about – they may have once, but they have now become professional speakers instead.
Reasearching the speakers (not just the blurb in the event sales page!) will tell you whether an event is worth traveling for. If an event is nearby, and doesn’t cost much (or is free!), then just go. You have nothing to lose.
I would caution anyone to not spend on any program offered until the end of the event, or until you have had time to look at an offer closely. Even though the organizers, and speakers, may employ all sorts of incentives for you to act immediately, it is rare that you will not be able to buy a package the next day.
If the sales pitch was too good, and got off your chair ‘to be one of the first 20 to purchase in order to get a bonus’ – one thing they don’t often tell you is that you can usually change your mind and swap it for another package on offer.
But why go through the hassle? Just watch every speaker – don’t fall for the heavy sales pitches, and find genuine people who are going to be available to help you.
Finally, when it comes to networking, choose appropriate events. If you are into PPC, then go to an even that has a speaker who specializes on PPC. That way you be more likely to find other people interested in PPC.
Good luck!
You’ve got me convinced! It took a while for me to realize there’s so much I don’t know. I was never a believer of that “no man is an island” thing…until I started joining internet marketing events and listening to these people. Well, I’m lucky my arrogance cost me just one year of lackluster sales (read: losses). From then on, I’ve come down from my high ladder and put these conferences on my priority list.
